New Appliances for New House

We need to buy washer, dryer, vacuum, lawn mow and a freezer for the new house which by my estimate, will cost at least 2500 for all of them. I went to consumer report website and printed out all the consumer report recommendations for these products and went window shopping last weekend. It was tiring but fun. We did find most of the consumer report recommended products at both Best Buy and Lowes. So most likely we will buy washer and dryer from Best Buy and the rest of them from Lowes. To save money, I won a bid for two 10% of purchase coupon for Lowes from Ebay. Best Buy I can't find coupons, but I know from time to time, I receive emails for a print out of coupon for 10% off appliances. I actually receive one today in the email, but since it expires this week, I didn't print it out since it is still too early to buy anything yet. But I will watch out for more.

And Best Buy also has discounts for scratch and dent appliances which we are very interested in. We will buy a front load energy efficient washer to save on energy and water, also to reduce the wear on clothes. It is relatively expensive, but since we will stay in the house for a long time, it will be worth the investment.

House Under Contract and Have a Contract for a New House

Lots of changes. You can tell from the title of the post that this weekend, we had an offer on our house which after back and forth negotiation, we accepted. And we also saw a beautiful house on Saturday which we put an offer on the same day and was accepted too. Whew, what a weekend. We came close to give up everything Monday morning because the buyer of our house gave us some unreasonable demands but they eventually turned around. So, we are tired but happy to see that everything falls into place.

The house we are buying is $439,900. Right at our price range. It will bump our mortgage to around 2000 and with insurance and tax, about 2500. This is almost two and half times our current mortgage. But I think it is well worth it.

We are currently busy getting mortgage application going and getting home inspection and insurance. We are scheduled to close the new house on June 15 and our current house on July 15. It will be a month lag which gives us plenty of time to clean and move.
